The Founding of CBOI (Chess Boxing Organisation of India)

CHESS BOXING ORGANISATION OF INDIA was found under the leadership of renowned martial artist of Indian Sole Sensei Montu Das, a pioneer of kickboxing as International Silver Medalist, Referee & Coach, Elected Secretary General, Indian Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO-India), Founder & General Secretary of Kickboxing Association of West Bengal, President of Das School of Martial Arts & Shito-Ryu Karate-Do School of Bengal. Mr. Das belongs from one of the ancient cities of India, Calcutta now Kolkata.

At the age of 16, Mr. Das’s Coach informed him that after any aggressive or heavy contact sport one must play a round of Chess to relax himself mentally and physically. After hearing about CHESS-BOXING (WCBO) a game that’s a combination of two opposite sport, like soft & hard or cold & hot, at first he couldn’t believe this, but soon after the telephonic conversation and discussion with the founder of this fantastic game, Mr. Iepe Rubingh, he got to know more about the rules & regulation to start Chessboxing in his own city. As a result, he started the Chess Boxing Club of Kolkata and arranged first ever Chessboxing match in Indian Sole at Kolkata and invented the CBOI.

The Goal of CBOI

The first and foremost objective is to promote Chessboxing all over India and make it recognized Nationwide through Indian Olympic Association and Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of India. We have to improve the performance of Chess Boxers in National & International arena and support them by organizing various Training Camps, Seminar by expertise & Championships such that they get to know their Potential.

The First Chess Boxing Club of India

In the month of May 2011, the founder of Chess Boxing Organisation of India, Mr. Montu Das contacted. Mr. Iepe Rubingh, President, WCBO, to know more about Chessboxing.  Mr.Iepe guided him to start Chess Boxing from club level, like Chess Boxing Club of Kolkata.

Mr. Das started Chess Boxing training in his own Gym (Das Fitness Gym) and as Chess Boxing Club of Kolkata & Training began for India as the sole from his home town Kolkata to all over the country with his 23 years of Martial arts experience in Kickboxing, Karate & Wushu-Kung-Fu.

Chess Boxing is a new concept of martial art where we can enjoy combat training through Boxing for the development of physique and another popular worldwide sport- Chess, for the development of mind. This unique concept of mind and body drags the youth to join this Sport.
